In 2026, thirty-five young adults, crew, and other passengers survive a storm-wrecked rented boat and wash onto a vast island far from civilization. Eighteen-year-old Jamaican American nursing student Nia leads the survivors with bushcraft, bow-hunting, archery, and boxing skills, while a nineteen-year-old trained Green Beret and martial artist becomes her second lead. The island holds deserts, woods, swamps, beaches, dangerous wildlife, scarce resources, and three rival clans of organized cannibals. The survivors include eleven Black people, twenty white people, other minorities, five LGBTQIA+ people including one trans woman, and two openly racist survivors.
