On Gyuieme, a vast medieval world beneath three suns and five moons, elves, dwarves, demons, spirit beasts, goblins, orcs, dragons, kingdoms, empires, Vikings, pirates, knights, and cultivators collide. Only 1–10% of people possess cultivation talent, while 37% can sense and circulate Qi enough for body tempering or basic techniques. Qi appears in elemental variants, demonic Qi, yin Qi, yang Qi, sword Qi, and other forms. The seven mortal great realms are Body Tempering, Qi Gathering, Foundation Establishment, Golden Core, Nascent Soul, Spirit Severing, and Dao Ascension. Each realm has ten levels, with levels 1–3 early, 4–6 mid, 7–9 late, and level 10 peak. Each realm represents roughly a threefold multiplicative increase in power. Foundation Establishment, the third realm, allows flight for capable cultivators. Spirit Severing, the sixth realm, grants sightless Qi sensing. The Venerable Path Sword Sect is a major sect that primarily teaches sword cultivation. Its hierarchy rises from outer-court disciples to inner-court disciples, then core disciples. Above the disciples are elders divided by the same outer, inner, and core distinctions, with each elder tier holding authority over its corresponding court. The sect patriarch stands above all elders and is a level-six cultivator of the fifth realm, Nascent Soul. Bai Lei is a thirteen-year-old human cultivator at level 3 of Foundation Establishment, with spear mastery allowing him to fight at level 5, unarmed mastery allowing him to fight at level 7, and his activating white-tiger bloodline raising him to level 10. His Qi control and mastery are at level 10 of the third realm. He hides his forbidden yin Qi and necrotic arts, which mark him as a possible demonic cultivator.
