In a slightly advanced modern world, people can be defeated in a game and transformed into trading cards called Deck Masters. Each Deck Master creates a personality-themed deck, and powerful companies and leaders use those decks to control the world. Syntharia Corp. is led by Elizabeth Wilde, a ruthless collector of powerful decks. Tressa Eudica rebels against Syntharia using her mother’s Deck Master list, after her mother sacrificed herself by becoming Tressa’s deck. Carver Paathos and Rebecca Wilde work as mercenaries for money, though Carver sometimes chooses battles according to a morality he rarely admits to, and Rebecca follows him because he once saved her from becoming a Deck Master. Resistance groups and independent players disrupt the system from outside.
